Quick Bird Cake Recipe

2 boxes (8 1/2 oz each) of cornmeal bread or muffin mix
3 eggs
2/3 cup milk
1T brewers yeast (approx 1 packet)
1/4 cup high protein baby cereal flakes
1/4 cup raw wheat germ
grated carrot or yam(as much or as little as you want-helps keep the bread moist)
 
Preheat oven at 400 degrees
Mix all ingredients in a bowl and scoop into greased muffin tins OR 9"X13" cake pan
Bake at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes, or when a knife or toothpick inserted in cake comes out dry and clean. These little cakes can be popped into a ziplock bag and frozen until you need them. I usually bake the cake in a cake pan, and cut it into squares. I then thaw a square, and crumble some of the cake into a treat dish or cup.The birds just love it for a healthy treat, and use it to feed their babies.
